The Fisherman’s Tears

In 2009, Designer Ingo Maurer presented Lacrime del Pescatore (The Fisherman’s Tears”). A sculptural light piece constructed of three nylon fishing nets in different sized laden with  350 crystals and lit with a halogen bulb on the wall. The light is said to evoke the dew drops on the fisherman’s net.

This light is so beautiful, I just had to share it. I first learned about it while reading “How to Design a Light” from the Design Museum, then also stumbled upon it on Design Milk. Every time that I have seen this light, I am taken back by the beauty and simplicity of the piece. It evokes both joy and sorrow. It is truly a work of art.
